Kindness | #WeeklyChallenge

** Who’s up for challenging the status quo? **
For the month of December I’ve decided to gift myself something special. The gift of permission. Permission to be the kind of person I know I can be. The kind of person who shows up, lights up the room and inspires everyone else to do the same. I’ve broken this down into four weekly challenges. Each week I will focus on a new lesson in order to stretch and grow myself. I invite you to do the same…

๐Ÿ‘‰Week 3: Kindness
Why is kindness so important? I don’t know about you but I have noticed the strong presence of judgement just about everywhere I look. Whether it’s online commenting wars, gossiping with friends or listening to my clients speak about their experiences of feeling judged, it seems the world has gone mad. And that is just the external judgement… The internal, self judgement is even worse.

Whenever I notice myself wanting to judge someone, I pause and before speaking, I ask myself these three questions: Is it kind? Is it necessary? Is it true? If I don’t answer yes to all three questions then I don’t say it. Because if I do then inevitably what follows is a feeling of judgement towards myself for saying something which does not reflect my true nature.

Being kind is a form of love. Every time we choose to live from a place of love we are bringing joy to the people around us and to ourselves. This holiday season, commit to bringing the love to whomever you spend your time with. Kindness costs nothing, except perhaps your ego. Which let’s be honest, is not really serving you anyway. If you followed the challenge in week 1 then humility is something you have recent experience with. So build on that experience and spread your love through kindness.

This lesson applies to the people around you, to yourself (especially!) and to your larger community. Being kind is not only about the words you choose and the thoughts you think. It is also about the action you take. Random acts of kindness have the power to turn someone’s day around. You have no idea what an impact you can have with one small action.

Starting today, I am giving myself the following permission:
๐ŸŒปIt’s ok to treat myself and others with kindness and to accept the kindness bestowed upon me.๐ŸŒป
