Gratitude | #WeeklyChallenge

⁉️ Who’s up for challenging the status quo? ⁉️
For the month of December I’ve decided to gift myself something special. The gift of permission. Permission to be the kind of person I know I can be. The kind of person who shows up, lights up the room and inspires everyone else to do the same. I’ve broken this down into four weekly challenges. Each week I will focus on a new lesson in order to stretch and grow myself. I invite you to do the same…

👉Week 2: Gratitude
Why is gratitude so important? I believe that when we express gratitude it is usually in response to a positive experience which has bought us joyful feelings. If you believe, like I do, that what you give is what you get then sending out the vibe that you are grateful for feeling happy means you will attract more things to be happy about.

Expressing gratitude to others in response to their actions also shows them that we value those actions, so they are more likely to do them again. For example, every single time my partner Garth does the dishes I say thank you. Even if it’s his turn, even if I had to ask him to do them… I always say thank you and he appreciates the acknowledgement.

The most important aspect of gratitude is feeling it right now no matter the circumstances. It’s easy to fall into the trap of believing “I’ll be happy when XYZ happens”. This places your happiness at the mercy of an external event. The truth is that XYZ will happen when you feel happiness. By developing an internal source of happiness you can always draw on it when you need it.

It can feel challenging to feel gratitude when you are going through a tough time. Choose to remind yourself that obstacles are detours in the right direction. Every challenging experience will help you grow and move towards a better place. If you have faith in this then you can express gratitude for the lesson you are learning.

Starting today, I am giving myself the following permission:
🌻It’s ok to be grateful for the lessons I am learning and for the joy I already have.🌻
