Blog: Trying to do it all

A story about trying to do it all

One of my clients said something to me this week that I hear often and have experienced myself:

“I feel like I’m working all the time but I’m not actually moving forward.”

She’s building a business from home, in the pockets of time between school drop-offs, snacks, laundry, and everything else that comes with running a household while parenting little ones.

And on the surface, it looked like she had flexibility.

But underneath, there were a lot of unspoken expectations.

Because she was home, it just made sense that she would:
Keep on top of the laundry.
Figure out dinner.
Be available when a child was ill.

No one had explicitly said this. But it was there.

So what was happening?

She’d try to work… get interrupted… switch to a household task… come back to work… feel scattered… then end the day feeling like she’d done everything and nothing at the same time.

Sound familiar?

When we unpacked it, we realised there wasn’t just one thing going on. There were layers.

She needed clearer boundaries.
She needed more explicit communication with her partner.
And she needed a way of working that actually matched her current capacity.

And this is the thing about coaching. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution.

For some women, the work is internal.
Learning to say, “This is what I need,” without guilt. (Brave Coaching)

For others, it’s relational.
Having the conversations that create a more balanced, supportive dynamic at home. (Brave Couples)

And sometimes, it’s practical.
Creating a business strategy that works with your life, not against it. (Brave Business Strategy Session)

Often… it’s a combination.

Be BRAVE to admit that doing it all isn’t working.
Be BRAVE to get support in the areas that matter most.
