** Who’s up for challenging the status quo? **
For the month of December I’ve decided to gift myself something special. The gift of permission. Permission to be the kind of person I know I can be. The kind of person who shows up, lights up the room and inspires everyone else to do the same. I’ve broken this down into four weekly challenges. Each week I will focus on a new lesson in order to stretch and grow myself. I invite you to do the same…
๐Week 4: Curiosity
What does it mean to be curious? When you allow yourself to be grounded in curiosity you open yourself up to learning something new. Imagine when you’re in an argument, if instead of reacting in the usual way, you take a breathe and get curious about why you’re so triggered by the other person. This gives you the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of yourself and what is important to you. When you get curious about the other person and ask them how they are feeling (instead of getting defensive) you may learn something new about them.
Living with curiosity also removes ego from the equation. If instead of trying to be right, you get curious then you’re more likely to connect with the other person in a meaningful way. Admitting you don’t know something brings us back to the first lesson for December, humility. Being curious gives you so much opportunity to grow and expand your frame of reference.
Starting today, I am giving myself the following permission:
๐ปIt’s ok to show curiosity about my feelings and the feelings of others.๐ป
